Jimi Hendrix --James Marshall Hendrix-- Born on November 27, 1942, in Seattle, Washington died September 18, 1970. He was an Afro American world class master guitar player, singer and songwriter.

Despite a short lived exposure into fame and fortune of only four years, he is considered to have been the greatest guitarist that ever lived in the history of rock and roll music, and one of the most important, influential musicians of the 20th century.

Hendrix's influences were varied and extended beetwen the Little Richard Chuck Berry, and Eddie Cochran's rock and roll style to the electric blues that emanated from players like Blind Willy, Robert Johnson among others, Jimmy's style was a cut above the and was far and beyond to what was musically known in the 60's, he emancipated not only his persona but his guitar playing through the use of his own scale combos and unique and intricate fingering technique, which remains unparalled today.

ʻʻJimmy's style was a cut above the rest and was far and beyond to what was musically known in the 60's he emancipated not only his persona but his guitar playing through the use of his own scale combos and unique and intricate fingering technique, which remains unparalled today. He was ahead of his time by over 50 years. ʼʼ

Being a left-handed he took a right-handed Fender Stratocaster (left handed guitars were not made then) and played it left side, Hendrix was a pioneer in the use of studio recording techniques as well as guitar effects, guitar players before Hendrix had experimented with feedback and some distortion, but he turned those effects full volume up and gained hhis very own controlled and fluid musical lexicon that was as expressive as of his musical genius and personal magnificence as a blues and rock player that he mesmerized a more the one generation.

While he lived in New York City he played the club circuit along the likes of King Curtis, the Isley Brothers, John Paul Hammond, and Curtis Knight, B.B. King, Little Richard, Jackie Wilson, Ike and Tina Turner, and Wilson Pickett.

While playing in New York's famous Greenwich Village he was spotted by Chas Chandler of the Animals who offered for him to go to London and try his luck there.

Hendrix then traveled to the UK the and formed the Jimi Hendrix Experience, with Englishmen Noel Redding on bass and Mitch Mitchell on drums. and after only 5 short days he was hailed as the guitar master contortionist of the century, reaching fame and glory.

His fame in the US came only after he played at the at the Monterey Pop Festival in 1967 and then Woodstock in 69.

ʻʻWe all know the rest, therefore would not even dare suggest for you to go and read more at the rollignstone magazine site, their reviews are usually made by non musicians, non trained people in music which leaves a lot in the open in a subtle but undertoned meanning: ignorance in a subject creates and makes unduly biased favoritism.ʼʼ
